About Us

CTA is a not-for-profit, member-based organisation consisting of 33 clinical sites and 3 research institutes, across Australia and New Zealand.  Our strength lies in the collective medical and intellectual expertise of our members and the co-ordination of their resources.

The organisation arose out of the Centre for Developmental Cancer Therapies (CDCT) that was formed in 1993 by a small group of medical oncologists who wanted to conduct clinical trials with cytokines developed by Professor Don Metcalf and his colleagues at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. We were incorporated in 2003 as a public company limited by guarantee and have continued to expand during this period. Our original expertise in the field of oncology has now expanded to include all therapeutic areas of disease.

CTA aims to be the best partner for clinical trials by creating a communication portal for trial feasibilities, offering a full range of clinical trial start-up and post-approval services, providing access to our clinical trial management system (CTMS) as well as financial management of all types of clinical trials.

The CTA offices are located within the new $1 billion Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre facility in the Parkville precinct of Melbourne, Victoria.

Our vision is to be an international leader in clinical trials, playing a pivotal role in developing new therapies and the advancement of patient care.
